Urban mobility systems are undergoing profound socio‑technical transitions driven by technological innovation, sustainability imperatives, and evolving governance structures. This review article synthesizes emerging research on three interrelated domains: electrification of public transport fleets, integration of autonomous and connected vehicle technologies, and institutional change in urban mobility governance. The article highlights how electrification initiatives reshape operational models and cost structures in public transport networks, how autonomous vehicle pilots challenge existing regulatory and planning frameworks, and how institutional design and governance capacity condition the success of these transitions. Situating these developments within socio‑technical transition theory, the review emphasizes the multi‑level interactions between niche innovations, regime dynamics, and broader landscape pressures. By integrating technological, institutional, and policy perspectives, the article provides actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to navigate the complexities of sustainable urban mobility.
